Antiqued Calf Leather Hiker Shoes
Adige Burgundy
A brand new take on a traditional 1930’s style walking shoe. This Norwegian welted hiker showcases premium calf leather with the Sweeney vintage treatment – the shoes are made in blond leather and washed to create a ‘worn in feel’, before dyeing and meticulous antique polishing by hand.
The upper has and a series of antiqued brass D-rings to keep a good flexible fit, with a padded collar and a back pull tab. The supple bellows tongue is a traditional feature to prevent gaps in the upper. A Norwegian welt is a favoured construction for hikers, as it provides extra stability and protection, with the leather welt covering the join between the upper and the sole; we've opted for the St Moritz rubber outsole, which has a practical cleated tread with a cleated rubber top-piece on a leather stacked heel. As you'd expect we've included a full, calf leather lining and padded insock

The Norwegian Welted Construction
Taking the principals of the Goodyear welted method the Norwegian welt includes an extra visible stitch row. Instead of disappearing under the upper, the welt is stitched from the outside of the shoe through the upper and the ridge on the insole. This forms a protective lip around the join of the upper to the sole. The upper is then stitched to the outsole through the welt and midsole. A durable and practical construction ideal for hiking boots and sturdy outdoor shoes.
