How to Wear a Men's Overshirt?
What is a men’s overshirt?
An overshirt is the perfect layering piece that sits somewhere between a jacket and a classic shirt, designed to be worn as a second layer and ideal for transitional seasons like spring and autumn. You may have seen them referred to as a shacket, but they’ll typically be referred to as overshirts these days. They’re a smart/casual staple that can really elevate your look.
What’s the difference between a regular shirt and an overshirt?
Typically, an overshirt will be a thicker fabric than a classic shirt, and is designed to be worn over another more fitted layer, whereas a standard shirt is designed to be worn more fitted without the need for a base layer. An overshirt will also be designed to be a little oversized to accommodate a layer beneath.

Overshirts come in a variety of styles and fabrics and can be quite versatile when it comes to styling. You can opt for a simple t-shirt – we recommend avoiding anything with a print or particularly loud colours underneath – or a fitted lightweight jumper also makes a great base on chillier days. You can also wear another more fitted shirt below an overshirt – the trick here is to mix up colours and textures to create definition.
The most straight forward way of wearing an overshirt is to leave it open and loose, however some prefer to button them at the bottom leaving the top couple of buttons open, and others like to just button the top and leave the rest open below. They also work as the perfect mid-layer underneath a heavier coat or gilet in the winter.
