Description

Our new premium Norwegian welted hiking boot is a vintage design with the Sweeney Vintage treatment. The boots are washed in giant machines before hand colouring, polishing and antique finishing by hand. This gives the brown calf leather uppers an instantly worn-in, ‘old favourites’ appeal. The Norwegian welt is a favoured construction for hikers, as it provides extra stability and protection, with the leather welt covering the join between the upper and the sole. We've opted for a durable commando sole with a cleated tread. As you'd expect we've included a full, calf leather lining and padded insock.

I've been waiting for these for some time and finally I got my hands on a pair. The build is excellent as expected, the laces sturdy and hooks feel solid. I'm a size 10 normally and these might be a tiny bit bigger than I expected but not worth changing half a size either side so pretty much true to fit. I've had a chance to talk across a few wet and muddy fields in them and haven't felt any water yet so again, what I was hoping for. And I love the look. Smart, casual, timeless. Given the size up over the ankle I turn up any trousers I wear with them and it always looks good. These will hopefully see me happy for many years.

Dreadful quality leather

The quality of the leather was really bad. Clearly from the packaging these had already been returned once presumably for the same reason.
The leather was very loose in certain panels creating a very ugly look. You'd expect for this money that the materials would be premium but sadly this was not the case, the quality of leather, selection and cutting were so poor.
There is little point paying for expensive constructions if the quality of materials is far from good enough. The quality control needs to be addressed with this factory as I have experienced this before, taking several pairs before a half decent pair were found. Such a shame.
Also, the last is a little too refined for a heavy boot.

Looks firmer and sturdier on the picture

Looks a bit les sturdy than on the picture, quite thin, I have to try them and maybe will change mind.

Great boots. But they run half a size too large

Pleased with the quality at the price point in the sale. Only gripe is that they are half a size too big. They run large, so recommend buying half a size smaller. I can fill them out with very thick socks
