In an industrial backwater in Kentish Town there is a hub of creativity, brimming with photographers, designers, writers and artists, where even the local brewery ‘crafts’ its ales. It is here where the Oliver Sweeney designs are born and here where our Cobbler in Chief met his neighbour, the talented Luke Derrick; award winning menswear graduate from Central Saint Martins.

Luke had developed a fascination with footwear over his seven years of training, following a career that has already seen him work at the likes of Brioni, Dunhill, and Alexander McQueen. He was determined to encompass his new passion into his debut Masters collection. Our Cobbler, ever an impassioned shoe guru, is an advocate and mentor of new design talent and innovation. An inevitable collaboration ensued.

The original inspiration for Luke Derrick’s design was the cowboy boot – the beloved Texan favourite that would be worn all day, inside and out, day after day. Lockdown equally focussed his attention back to fuss free simplicity; easy to wear, clean
lines devoid of superfluous fastenings and embellishments. The resultant mule and low slung boot were sampled by our artisan factory in Le Marche using a trusted Oliver Sweeney last with their signature impeccable hand finishing.

A fresh new departure from our own footwear collection, we are proud to showcase this new young talent.
