AW12 Press Day at our Manchester store on The Avenue, Spinningfields

This season weve taken our inspiration from fine Italian wines, naming each shoe after our Cobbler-in-Chiefs favourite reds and whites. With a mixture of formals and casuals in high-shine rub off leathers, eye-catching designs and rich colours were extremely proud of this luxurious range.

Particular favourites among the press were the Bonn Zebra chukka boot and very fittingly the Santo and Emilia Gold shoes!

Here are some of the AW12 Collection highlights to whet your appetite!

Salento Brown/Green
Oliver Sweeney Jubilee Art Campaign
Here at Oliver Sweeney we decided to create something a little more permanent, but still very much in keeping with the red, white and blue theme.

For two days we worked with graffiti artists to paint the entire shop front of our Oliver Sweeney Covent Garden store in Union Jack colours.

But this wasnt any old Union Jack the painting was made up of small stencils of Oliver Sweeney shoes.

In the beautiful British sunshine tourists and passers-by stopped to marvel at our project.

One just married couple even chose it as the backdrop for their wedding photo!

If youre in Central London over the Jubilee weekend pop down and see this sensational artwork and why not tweet about it too?! #oliversweeney

| Talking of whose shoes youd like to be in, do you think youve got what it takes to fill the shoes of F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone? (Laughing) Theres no truth whatsoever in that rumour. No truth. Really? No, no truth at all. Is it just a case of different sized shoes then? Well you know what Mae West said? Better to be looked over than to be overlooked! Youve got to be in it to win it. Lets move away from F1 and talk about retail 2012 will be an interesting year for retailers with the Jubilee and the Olympics. How do you predict the industry will do? I believe that those retailers that give customers the right product, the right price, the right styling and the right service will do well. You know, consumers arent stupid they will follow something that they believe has quality and value to them. What do you think of our new look Oliver Sweeney Conduit Street store? The stores fabulous! Ive not been in here before. It really looks good. Its got quite an awkward frontage but it still invites you in. The main reason I like it is that its very bright; its got good lighting and when you walk past it says to you that youve got to come in here. How are you finding our shoes? Theyre fabulous. Im a great colour man men dont wear enough colour and need to be led slightly so what youve got here is not cutting edge fashion but its edgy. Its good. |
![]() Would you say shoes maketh the man? Yes. Theyre very important. I always advise people to buy the best quality (shoes) they can afford. Cheap shoes make you look a cheapskate - theres a line for you! And the other thing is keep them clean. First thing I do when I look at a person for interview is I say is their hair clean, are their fingernails clean and are their shoes clean? And if they fail any one of those three things they dont get the job. ![]() Shop Abrahams here Read other Oliver Sweeney Meets... |
Shiny Happy People
For a true Gentleman, a well fitting, long lasting shoe goes without saying. Its a mark of refinement and a statement of personal pride in ones appearance that says look at me.
Wanting our Oliver Sweeney fans to look the part we teamed up with James Shoe Shine to offer free polishing at our Cheapside store. After all, there are few pleasures in life that match that of stepping out in nice, shiny Sweeneys.

Professional shoe-shiner Jock Kennedy from James Shoe Shine polished up scuffed shoes all day making the city a shinier happier place!
